Purposes: The annual conferences of the German Studies Association bring together over 1,000 scholars in the areas of German history, literature, culture, and politics. Presentations range over the period between the Middle Ages and the present. Not only established scholars but also younger ones (including graduate students) are welcome.

Procedure: To propose a session or an individual paper, one must use this web-site. Neither paper nor email proposals are accepted (although members of the Program Committee are certainly prepared to discuss possible submissions in advance). The first step is to read the "Guidelines for Submitting Proposals," which you may access via a link to the left on this page). The next step is to click on to “Begin the Submission Process” (also to the left on this page).

Profiles: No one can submit a proposal or be listed by someone else as a proposed participant in a session unless there is a “profile” for that person in the GSA database. Please read what is written on this subject in the Guidelines (as well as on other matters treated there) with care.
