GSA SEEKS CONTRIBUTIONS FROM MEMBERS TO LECTURE AND EVENT FUND AT WARTBURG COLLEGE

Wartburg is the oldest German heritage College (1852) in the USA Still Emphasizing German Studies

GSA Members Asked to Contribute so that the Fund reaches a level large enough to support a lecture program at the College

With an initial grant, the GSA Board has established a fund at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, to support and promote German Studies at the oldest German heritage college that still retains a college-wide German Studies program.

The GSA Board named the Fund to honor the founder of our Association, Gerald R. Kleinfeld, who has established a professorship at the College.

We probably need to raise at least $50,000 to provide enough money so that the interest each year will fund some lectures and events in German Studies. GSA members are asked to contribute to this good cause, so that we can help the college retain its program and its German heritage character. Of course, since it is a college, contributions by individuals are tax deductible in the USA. Contributions of $50, $100, or any amount will be helpful. We are hoping for a large number of smaller contributions to help us reach the goal.

Here is how to contribute:

1. You can send a check. This is the easiest. Any amount will do. Just send it to Vice President for Advancement, Wartburg College, 100 Wartburg Blvd., Waverly, Iowa 50677. Tell him what it is for.

2. You can contribute by credit card. Go to www.wartburg.edu and pull down the menu under Visitors. Choose “Give to Wartburg.” In the next screen, you will see “Give Online” on the right-hand side. Click there. Then you have an easy, self-explanatory form. BUT, do not forget to tell them WHAT THE GIFT IS FOR. To do that, pull down the menu under “Gift Designation” and select “Other.” Then, in the next line, it says “if other, please specify.” So, that is where you type GSA German Studies Fund, or Kleinfeld German Studies Fund. Either will do.

It is that easy. Please help us establish this Fund, and bring it up to a meaningful sum for the students and faculty of this German heritage college. And, it is all tax-deductible.
