American Friends of Marbach article prize

The American Friends of Marbach are excited to announce the launch of a new article prize, to be awarded biannually at the GSA Conference for the best article that draws substantially on the holdings of the Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach. The award will be announced at the annual banquet of the GSA and will include a prize of $500.

2026 Prize Competition Announced

Eligibility:

  • Publication date must fall within the range of 2022-2025
  • Membership in AFM, GSA, or employed/enrolled at a U.S. Institution of Higher Education
  • Publication language must be either English or German
  • Active officers of the AFM are not eligible
  • In keeping with the AFM’s mission to support graduate and postdoctoral research, prize committees will give special consideration to submissions by early career scholars.

Submission:

  • Self-nominations and nominations by publishers are equally accepted and encouraged
  • Must include cover letter detailing relevance of DLA resources and/or AFM support

Deadline:

  • To be eligible for consideration, nominations with cover letter and article pdf must be submitted by email to all three committee members below by June 1, 2026.
